| Note
for Mac computers
Mac’s
should have their own version of Acrobat already installed (it comes
as standard). You should therefore not need to install the version
on this disk. Mac’s can also experience some problems when
running the disk through a browser, so firstly open your version
of Acrobat form your Mac then choose file – open and navigate
to the CD rom and open the folder named Manual, inside is a file
also named Manual, open this and the Manual should start.
You
can alternatively navigate straight to this file through your file
system and select to open this file; the manual should once again
open in Acrobat. |
. |
Firstly
run through these simple stages to ensure the CD is being used correctly
-
Insert
the Demo CD into the CD tray - picture facing up, and then close
the tray.
The CD should then begin to spin and after a short while (20 sec's
+) a screen should open automatically in your browser. This screen
is the Foreword and at the bottom of the page you will see 2 links
- (if it doesn't auto start see bottom of this e mail)
Links are, One to "Run the Manual" and another to "Install
Acrobat Reader"
If you have a copy of Acrobat already on your pc you do not need
to install another copy (although the version on the disk - Version
5 is one of the latest updates) so just click "Run the Manual"
and the manual should load automatically (this takes approx. 20
seconds+).
If you do not have a copy of Acrobat Reader on your computer then
click "Install Acrobat Reader" then when the small installation
box opens select - "open" this will begin the Acrobat
installation. When this has finished clicking "Run the Manual"
will start the manual.
Finally you might be running a very old version of Acrobat reader,
version 5 is contained on the CD and you can install it from the
first screen that auto starts on the disk.

|
| If
the CD doesn't auto start
There are usually two possible causes – You do not have
auto start enabled for your CD drives or that you do not have any
web browser software installed on your computer (i.e. internet explorer
/ Netscape etc) these programs are used as standard by computer
magazines for running cover disks etc, but in the unlikely event
that you do not have one installed then follow the instructions
below to start the disk manually without auto start -
You have a version of
Acrobat installed then -
Insert the CD
Open windows explorer or my documents etc (your files) and click
on the Cd drive (it should say Art_Manual).
You will then see a list of folders, such as Adobe Reader, Manual
etc
Double click the folder labeled MANUAL. Inside this folder is PDF
files called Manual, double click this - the art manual should then
start after approx 20 seconds.
If you DO NOT have a version
of Acrobat installed then you must first install Acrobat–
Insert
the CD
Open
windows explorer or my documents etc and click on the CD drive (it
should say Art_Manual).
You will then see a list of Folders, such as Adobe Reader, Manual
etc
Double click the folder called Adobe Reader you will see a file
named "ar500enu" double click it, the reader will then
start to setup, it will pause at 99% before continuing. Follow the
onscreen instructions to complete installation.
Note:- If you do not install Acrobat reader (or have a copy of Acrobat
or another PDF reader already installed) the manual will not run.
If you have problems whilst installing Acrobat run through the installation
process again.
Then follow the instructions above - "if you have a
version of Acrobat installed" to run the manual. |
|
When
the manual is open you will be at the Contents Page - you have a
few ways of navigating through the pages -
Navigating with Page Arrows
At the top and bottom of each page you will see arrows pointing
left and right, clicking these will take you to the next or previous
pages.
Navigating with arrows on the toolbar
You should see black arrows pointing left and right on the Acrobat
tool bar, these are for next page and previous page, if you cant
see these arrows, right click on a blank lower part of the tool
bar and select "Navigation", they will then appear.
Navigating by Bookmarks
With the contents page open, you should see down the left hand
side of the screen, small page corners, saying bookmarks, thumbnails
etc - click bookmarks. You will then see a panel open with small
white pages with writing under them like - Biography etc. clicking
any of these will take you to that page/section.
Navigating with Thumbnails
Underneath the bookmarks tag you will see one labeled Thumbnails.
Click it and you will see miniature pages from the book appear in
a left hand window, clicking these will take you to the page / section.
Navigating via links
The text on the contents page are links so hovering the pointer
over each tan coloured section e.g. Brushes will take you there,
you then use the arrow buttons to go back and forth - see navigating
with arrows above. |
